Description
Renowned for its extreme firing difficulty, The Red Plum Blossom Fairness Pitcher seamlessly unites two imperial porcelain arts: Underglaze Blue (Qinghua) and Underglaze Red (Youlihong). Cobalt blue is used to paint the expressive, gnarled plum branches, while rich copper-red glaze brings the vibrant, blooming petals to life. Fired under precise reducing atmospheric conditions in Jingdezhen’s high-temperature kilns, the striking contrast between cobalt indigo and fiery crimson creates a poetry of winter resilience. Complete with a precision eagle-beak spout, this pitcher provides a smooth, non-drip pour that elevates any high-level tea ceremony.

Throughout Jingdezhen’s thousand-year porcelain-making history, the union of blue-and-white and underglaze red has been celebrated as one of ceramic art’s most exceptional pairings.
Because copper red demands exceptionally precise kiln temperatures and a carefully controlled reducing atmosphere, its color can easily fade or darken during firing—giving rise to the saying, “Nine out of ten firings fail.”
The artisans of Huashan Zhuoyin use cobalt-blue pigment to portray the weathered, resilient branches of an ancient plum tree, then delicately accent each blossom with a specially formulated copper-red pigment. Transformed by the intense heat of the kiln, the blue flows like expressive ink while the crimson glows like the morning sky.
The finished piece evokes the timeless beauty of seeking red plum blossoms amid falling snow, transforming a centuries-old mastery of fire
