Description
This gaiwan brings together traditional blue-and-white painting and Huashan’s distinctive underglaze white technique. Cobalt outlines define each plum blossom, while underglaze white fills the petals. Layered cobalt washes give the branches depth, strength, and movement.
After high-temperature firing, the blue and white elements become naturally integrated beneath the glaze. Luminous blossoms emerge against the cobalt branches, creating a composition that combines delicate detail with the restrained elegance of Chinese literati painting.
The vessel adopts Huashan’s distinctive Chinese ingot-inspired gaiwan form. By removing the traditional saucer and shaping the bowl into a full, rounded ingot silhouette, the design becomes cleaner and more contemporary while retaining an auspicious cultural meaning.

The beauty of the plum blossom lies not only in its flowers, but also in the season in which it chooses to bloom.
While winter still lingers and other flowers remain dormant, the plum opens against the cold. For generations, Chinese scholars and artists have therefore used it to express resilience, purity, and quiet integrity.
Huashan paints the branches in cobalt and forms the blossoms in underglaze white. Strong branches stretch across the porcelain while luminous flowers emerge from varying shades of blue. The composition remains deliberately restrained, allowing blossoms, branches, and empty space to breathe together.
The plum blossom is then paired with another auspicious form—the Chinese ingot.
By removing the traditional saucer, Huashan allows the lid and bowl to form a complete ingot-inspired silhouette. The plum speaks of resilience and renewal, while the vessel carries wishes for gathering fortune and blessings.
