Description
Plum Blossom Underglaze White Yashou Teacup 2.0
This teacup features the plum blossom through Huashan’s refined underglaze white technique. Rather than relying solely on the reserved white spaces commonly seen in traditional blue-and-white porcelain, the blossoms are formed against the cobalt ground and filled with pure white glaze before being fired at high temperature.
The contrast between deep cobalt blue and luminous white creates greater depth and definition, allowing the plum blossoms to emerge naturally from the painted branches.
Crafted from natural kaolin clay and fired at temperatures above 1300°C, the porcelain develops a fine, strong body and a smooth, jade-like glaze with a subtle blue-white tone.

Blooming through the cold, the plum blossom is the first to welcome spring.
For centuries, the plum blossom has held a special place in Chinese literati culture. Blooming while winter still lingers, it came to represent resilience, purity, and quiet strength in the face of adversity.
Huashan reinterprets this traditional subject through the underglaze white technique. Against the deep cobalt ground, white blossoms quietly emerge from the branches, turning negative space into a defining part of the composition.
The contrast of blue and white recalls plum blossoms appearing through winter snow—restrained, elegant, yet full of life.
It does not compete for spring, yet it is the first to announce its arrival.
