Description
Exuding majestic power and timeless imperial elegance, the Ink Dragon Ya Shou Cup features a soaring dragon surging through turbulent ocean waves. Crafted using the demanding underglaze reserve-painting technique (You Li Bai), rich cobalt blue ink-wash layers form the churning sea while pure white porcelain highlights the crashing crests and dragon detail. Modeled after the iconic Ming Dynasty Ya Shou (hand-fitting) cup, this vessel features a substantial, perfectly weighted body with an outward-flared rim that sits comfortably in the palm, transforming every sip into a commanding, tactile ritual.

This piece unites the distinguished heritage of Ming imperial porcelain with the commanding spirit of the ink-wash dragon. A master artisan of Huashan Zhuoyin uses traditional cobalt-blue pigment and refined fenshui shading to recreate a dramatic scene of an ink dragon emerging from the sea and commanding the surging waters.
Through the highly demanding Underglaze White reserve technique, layers of cobalt blue in varying depths form the turbulent waves, while the crests of the spray and the dragon’s powerful form are carefully preserved in luminous white. The contrast brings the dragon’s vitality and the force of the rolling sea vividly to life.
The substantial Yashou Cup rests securely in the hand, while its gently flared rim meets the lips with smooth comfort. As hot water fills the cup, the dragon seems to rise amid curling waves and fragrant steam—bringing commanding presence, refined craftsmanship, and profound cultural character to the connoisseur’s tea table.
